A4 STAINLESS FASTENERS
Experts in fasteners & fixings.......
Grade A4 (18/10/3) or 316 is an Austenitic grade of stainless steel. 18/10/3 refers to any stainless steel containing approximately 18% chromium, 10% nickel and 3% molybdenum giving it a higher corrosion reststance than A2 grade.
It has excellent resistance to atmospheric staining in industrial areas and is also used in marine environments (not immersed in sea water).
What distinguishes stainless steel from all other low carbon steel families is the presence of chromium, which forms a protective oxide barrier which resists rust and corrosion. Chromium also allows the steel to heal itself when damaged and doesn’t lose that ability over time, such as metals that have been surface treated for corrosion resistance such as zinc plating.
Applications
Fasteners for boat fittings, chemical plant, swimming pools, sewage treatment works, farm equipment including dairy machinery and masonry fixings.
